Board Minutes for November 14th, 2017

An opening prayer was said by Dennis McReynolds. The meeting, held at Brownsville Community Center, was called to order at 5:45 by board president Mike Kilmer. An approval of the minutes of the previous board meeting was not made because of a lack of quorum. Board members present were Mike Kilmer, James Welcome, Dennis McReynolds and Robin Reshard.

Treasurer’s Report:

Robin Reshard distributed the Treasurer’s report for September 1 – October 31, 2017. As of October 31 there were 46 members. No dues or donations were collected and no expenditures were made. The bank balance is $489.90 with available funds of $478.52 in the combined savings and checking account for the association.

Old Business:

Mike Kilmer reported that the Governance Committee will reconvene in or after January 2018 to discuss the remaining recommendations and/or amendments.

New Business:

  • Mike Kilmer discussed the need to review our current board membership and ensure we are
    meeting our goals as stated in the Bylaws. James Welcome was appointed to review the
    process.
  • The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office will be invited to present as a standing agenda item on the
    board for neighborhood, safety and partnership concerns. Deputy Dale Tharpe has an interest
    in attending our meetings.
  • The unofficial Red Light District was discussed. The Sheriff’s Office will be asked to engage in the
    discussion about neighborhood safety for all who reside and work here.
  • Mike Kilmer met with Jack Brown. A property map from Jack Brown, the county administrator,
    was discussed as a tool to get business owners, property owners and residents to get involved in the association. Additionally, the County has reached an agreement with Brownsville Assembly of God for a cooperative parking lot use. The County is considering the uses for the house and property north of the community center.
  • The Central Business District Steering Committee met on November 7, 2017, at 4:30 – 5:30, to further define the marketing needs and planning needs for the district. Because of the holidays, the next meeting is December 5, 2017, at 4:30 pm.
  • As reported in the TPO meeting, the City of Pensacola has budgeted $1.5M towards the Cervantes Street/Mobile Highway Corridor improvement.

The next Board Meeting will be in the first quarter 2018. Our next General Membership Meeting is Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at 5:30 pm. The holiday party will be immediately following the meeting.
